Art of Silence (Part 2) Program feedback

Last week, I was going through the Art of Living website, looking for programs to attend
in Chennai. Previously I have attended the Art of Living Part 1. Came across the Art of
Silence (part 2) program which is happening in Egmore.

Called up the organisers and they said it is starting the same day with Gurupooja and
satsang. Went for the Gurupooja and satsang and registered myself for the part 2 program.

Next day morning around 7 it started with Yoga, pranayama, kriya. After that series
of interactive and very useful to life sessions.

Later in the evening the silence started and lasted for about 3 days. During these days
apart from silence, there was lot of yoga, pranayama, kriya and meditation sessions.

Both the teacher Kishoreda and volunteers have done an excellent job in keeping the
program to its optimum.

From the participants there were people from various backgrounds like software engineers,
house wifes, young and old, people who had mental problem, who had health issues.

For people reading this blog, I strongly recommend attending the art of silence (part 2)
program near your place. Prerequisite is art of living part 1 program.

ITR-2 Compile Error in hidden module: Module 1 has been resolved

Couple of days back I was trying to file the india income tax return for AY 2013-2014.
During that time, I encountered "Compile Error in hidden module: Module 1".
The same has been resolved. Not sure whether this will help you. Just thought of
explaining the same here.

1) To start with, I went to https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/ and downloaded the
ITR-2 xls file into my MAC.

2) Opened the same using Excel 2004 for Mac. Somehow the buttons inside the
xl sheet didn't work for me. (Macros enabled)

3) Then I went to a browsing centre and downloaded the ITR-2 form and opened the
same using Excel 2007. This time the buttons were working with "compile error..."

4) I went ahead and filled in all the required values and sent the xls file to
efilinghelpdesk@incometaxindia.gov.in explaining my problem.

5) They replied and asked me to go through this link  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307410
and resolve the issue. I tried the same, it didn't work for me.

6) Then, I sent the xls file to my mail id and went to a different browsing centre

7) Opened the xls file using Excel 2007, somehow the "save XML" button worked for me here.

8) I was able to upload the xml and get my ITR-V

Travel from Chennai to Sanfrancisco via Dubai by Emirates

Recently I had to travel from Chennai to Sanfrancisco. And I was looking for
seats in cathay pacific and emirates web sites.

Using cathay pacific the travel is from Chennai to Hong Kong and Hong Kong to Sanfrancisco.
The time taken for travel from Chennai to Hong Kong is about 5 hrs and Hong Kong to
Sanfrancisco is about 12hrs. But the pricing was about $2000 for round trip, probably due to
peak season.

To save money, I was looking to book by emirates and it came about $1500. the travel
is from Chennai to Dubai and Dubai to Sanfrancisco. The time for Chennai to Dubai is about
4 hrs and from Dubai to Sanfrancisco is about 16hrs, with stop over at Dubai for about 8hrs.
Since the pricing is low I chose this one, off course I have to sacrifice time and sit in the cold Dubai
airport for 8 hrs.

Since I was following a specific diet, I ordered fruit platter for both Chennai to Dubai and
Dubai to Sanfrancisco. Previously when I was coming by Cathay pacific from Sanfrancisco to
Chennai the fruit platter given was very good. But the fruit platter given by emirates was not
that good, but it was ok.

When you take the economy seat size into considration, I think the emirates seat size was
little bit bigger than cathay pacific. I felt more comfortable with the seat in emirates.

One important thing to note is about the long flight from Dubai to Sanfrancisco. In the long flight
from Sanfrancisco to Hong Kong by Cathay I found there are 4 toilets in the back of the flight.
Whereas in emirates there was only 2 in the back of the flight.

When I was traveling by Emirates from Dubai to Sanfrancisco I saw a old couple in their 60s
sitting couple of seats away. Most of the time they were cranky and bothering the flight crew
like anything. The flight crew was doing their best to satisfy their dining pleasure, but still they
would not satisfy. Probably they are traveling in the flight for the first time from India.

Madhavamandiram and Garden Gate

When I was a kid I used to study in the Madhavamandiram School in Sholinghur.

It was during my first grade I had Mohan Sir as my class teacher. He used to
Teach maily Tamil and Maths to us.

It used to be a class of 50 people. Basically the teaching methodology is one
for all. I mean one instruction for all. Whether you are able to grasp the
knowledge or not.

Right now my daughter studies in garden gate school in cupertino. Karla Daw is
her class teacher. The one difference that I could see is the difference in
teaching.

She basically adopts the concept of teaching whatever the child can grasp.
Not a one for all teaching method. I found this is good for the children,
so that they can cope up with the knowledge level.

I thought I will take this opportunity to comment on the same.

Type Talk at Work...

This is the book I am currently reading. I saw this book couple of
weeks back in the library and I am hooked on to it.

It talks about the 16 personality types that determine your success
on the job.

Using these types the author explores time management, hiring, firing,
stress management etc.

This book is quite interesting to me. I hope it will be interesting for
others too.

I may post more about this book later here.
